Participation-Based Freelance Contracts

The participant-based bonus contract is available in the following cities:

  • Berlin (as of Sep 1st 2021)

  • Munich (as of Aug 1st 2021)

  • Cologne (as of Feb 1st 2023)

  • Düsseldorf (as of Feb 1st 2023)

How does it work?

Guaranteed Base Rate

Coaches are guaranteed a base rate per class.

Three Qualification Criteria

To unlock the variable bonus, 2 criteria need to be fulfilled each month

Variable Bonus

The "Per Participant" Bonus is unlocked if the qualification criteria are met

Guaranteed Base Rates

RIDE Workouts

Single: €40

Double: €40 + €40 = €80

Triple: €40 + €40 + €40 = €120

The participant bonus does not apply for RIDE workouts!

*All € are net-of-VAT. VAT is added to the invoice (if applicable)

Bonus Qualification Criteria

Your base rates are guaranteed - always!

To unlock the bonus, you need to fulfil the following 2 criteria in a month:

1. Coach at least 25 workouts per month!

Late Cancellation (from BEAT81 side):

  • For every workout cancelled by BEAT81 within 24 hours before the start of the workout, a late cancellation fee of €10 will be paid to you. These late cancelled workouts are also counted towards the minimum number of workouts you completed for the month (see example 4 below).

2. Cancel less than 5% of your workouts within 72 hours of the scheduled workout!

To receive higher bonus payments, these two strategies can help increase member retention and participation 😉

  • Turn participants into your loyal customers. Our data shows that offering 25+ monthly classes helps increase member participation for coaches.

  • Write a chat message to as many first time participants as possible. Messaging them within 36 hours of the workout drives motivation and retention. If you need inspiration for the messages, you can find some sample chat messages here.

Participation Bonus Calculation

  • For each participant starting from the 8th person, you will receive a per participant bonus of €1.50!

  • For each participant starting from the 25th person, you will receive a per participant bonus of €1.00!

  • (MUNICH ONLY!) For each participant starting from the 25th person up to the 40th person, you will receive a per participant bonus of €1.00!

Calculation examples:

Example 1:

20 HIIT workouts + 5 Ride workouts (= 25 workouts coached) --> Eligible for bonus (bonus will only be paid out for 20 HIIT workouts!)

Example 2:

19 HIIT workouts + 3 Ride workouts (= 22 workouts coached) --> NOT eligible for bonus (bonus will not be paid out!)

Example 3:

25 HIIT workouts + 10 Ride workouts (= 35 workouts coached) --> Eligible for bonus (bonus will be paid out for 25 HIIT workouts!)

Example 4 (BEAT81 cancels <24 h):

20 HIIT workouts + 4 Ride workouts (= 24 workouts coached) BUT 2 additional HIIT workouts have been cancelled late (<24hrs) by BEAT81

--> Eligible for bonus (as it counts as 26 workouts coached: bonus will be paid out for 22 HIIT workouts!)

Example 5 (Coach cancels <24 h):

20 HIIT workouts + 4 Ride workouts (= 24 workouts coached) BUT 2 additional HIIT workouts have been cancelled late (<24hrs) by Coach

--> Not eligible for bonus (bonus will not be paid out!)

NEVER CHECK IN CUSTOMERS AS PARTICIPANTS IF THEY ARE NOT AT THE LOCATION!

  1. We have a zero tolerance policy on fraud! Committing fraud will result in immediate cancellation of our work agreement.

  2. Customers who are not at the location but get checked in usually complain to the help desk as they have to pay extra fees with aggregators (Urban Sports Club, Classpass, etc.).

  3. All partner customers (except EGYM wellpass for now) cannot be manually checked in at all, neither by Coach nor by Support. If any of those customers have check-in issues, they need to reach out to the respective partner support team.

  4. We compare your check-in rate (the % of customers that you check in manually) to detect abnormal check-in rates.

No-Show Penalty

If you are unable to coach a workout due to personal reasons (eg. due to illness) you need to inform the support or city team, at least 60 minutes before the start of the workout.

In case you fail to notify your absence within the mentioned time or you do not show up at a workout, there would be a penalty of €100.

FAQ

How will participation be tracked?

Every customer who wears a heart rate sensor gets checked in automatically. In the rare case that a customer does not want to wear a heart rate sensor or that sensor does not work, you can check in the customer manually to track the participation. You can do this by clicking on the customer's name in the workout app and pressing on the field “Check In Manually”.

What happens if I don’t fulfil the eligibility criteria for the participation bonus in a certain month?

No worries, coaches who do not qualify for eligibility get still paid the guaranteed base compensation.

Is the VAT already included in the bonus?

No, if VAT is applicable, it will be paid out on top. All the amounts in this presentation are net-of-VAT.

What happens if a customer shows up late and was already checked out and is not on the screen anymore?

Just swipe right on the workout app and shift the toggle for “Show hidden participants” to the right. The customer will appear on the screen again and you can either give them a heart rate sensor or manually check them in.

What happens if I check in a customer who is not attending the workout?

Checking in customers manually who are not participating in the workout is not allowed and will result in the termination of your collaboration with BEAT81. We track and compare the manual check in rates of each coach. In addition to that customers who get checked in manually for a workout that they didn’t attend regularly complain because they need to pay an extra fee with aggregators. If you accidentally checked in a customer, who is not at the workout, you can reach out to the Coach Support to reverse the check in.

What should I do if i’m not sure if a customer was checked in?

You can reach out to Coach Support after the workout, explain the situation and let them check if the participant was checked in. In case the participant was not checked in yet, Coach Support can manually do it.

Do I need to sign a new freelance contract to participate in the bonus scheme? (only for coaches with an Old Contract, signed before 2022).

Yes, to participate in the bonus-scheme you will need to sign a new freelance contract in case you had an Old Contract Version from before 2022. The signature process will happen digitally via our new tool Fountain, for which you will receive an invite via mail.

All the new coaches hired after 2022 have a participation-based contract.

Why do outdoor classes have a higher guaranteed base payment than indoor classes?

By setting a higher guaranteed base payment for outdoor classes, we want to recognise the additional time, effort and uncertainty around weather conditions
